Leader Calls for Creative Measures to Realise Global Agreements
State President Tran Dai Quang has called for political determination, drastic and creative measures from the APEC economies to realize global agreements on climate change.
State President Quang made the call while addressing the second APEC economic leaders’ retreat in Lima, Peru on November 20.
He urged APEC to accelerate sustainable agriculture development in association with effective management and use of water resources.
The APEC also needs to attach importance to enhancing capacity building, technology transfer, and experience sharing among member economies to ensure sustainable and inclusive growth, the State President said.
He took the occasion to welcome APEC leaders and delegates to attend the forum themed “Creating New Dynamism, Fostering a Shared Future” that will take place in Viet Nam next year.
The APEC Viet Nam 2017 is a top priority in Viet Nam’s foreign policy agenda, reflecting our aspiration to make active contribution to an ever thriving Asia-Pacific region.
State President Quang left Lima the same day to pay a State visit to Italy from November 21-24 at the invitation of Italian President Sergio Mattarella.
He will also visit the Vatican as a guest of Pope Francis.
