“Best Quality - Social Service” is always the twin criteria in each activity of Phu Thinh Investment Construction Rubber Joint Stock Company. With the dedication of the staff, the company will continue to offer many quality products to meet all needs of customers in the coming time and raise the position of rubber trees in the economic sector of Binh Phuoc province and Vietnam.
Great contributions
Binh Phuoc had vast forestland before 2006, but lax management, illegal logging and illegal encroachment greatly affected the forest density. To address these problems, the Binh Phuoc Provincial Party Committee issued Directive 33 on forestland management and utilisation. The provincial government assigned Phu Rieng Rubber Company, a state-owned enterprise affiliated to Vietnam Rubber Group to reclaim illegally taken forestland. In 2006, this company recovered nearly 1,000 ha of forestland. Also based on State-owned enterprise equitisation plan, Phu Rieng Rubber Company cooperated with the Binh Phuoc Provincial People’s Committee to establish Phu Thinh Joint Stock Company.
“After more than 10 years, Phu Thinh Investment Construction Rubber Joint Stock Company has gradually affirmed its name on the market. The company is now managing and growing rubber trees on 2,300 ha. Recalling early days of establishment, we encountered numerous hardships, especially clashes with loggers and coerced people. Before that situation, the Management Board effectively mobilised people to prevent illegal logging,” said Mr Nguyen Thuyen, Director of Phu Thinh Investment Construction Rubber Joint Stock Company.
Phu Thinh also plans to develop a multi-sectoral business. In addition to reclaiming, planting and processing rubber latex, the company surveys, designs and constructs civil, industrial and traffic construction; trades and exports materials, agricultural, forest and aquatic products; produces agricultural materials, fertilisers and seedlings; and processes wood. In addition to two farms covering 2,200 ha in six communes and two districts, Phu Thinh also has a wood processing factory capable of processing 14,000 cubic metres a year, a transaction branch in Ho Chi Minh City, and a latex processing factory with a designed annual capacity of 6,000 tonnes. After over 10 years of operation, its registered capital increased from VND30 billion to over VND400 billion. Not only scaling up its production, the company also helps needy people. Phu Thinh generates jobs for over 1,000 local people, mainly ethnic minorities like Stieng Muong and Hmong, with the average monthly salary rising from VND4 million in 2006 to more than VND8 million now. Determined that economic development and natural environment are two intertwining factors, Phu Thinh Investment Construction Rubber Joint Stock Company invested in building a Class A wastewater treatment facility, Thuyen said.
Winning people’s heart
“Best quality for social service” is the principal operating philosophy of the company. Phu Thinh always sees customers as the “intermediary” to bring the company closer to the goal of “serving the society.” Perhaps, it is the reason why the company finds it easy to win the heart from employees to customers. “It is a great pride of the company to have a core workforce ready to devote to stable operation and development for community responsibility. Knowing that in the rubber industry, worker health is one of important factors to enhance labour productivity and ensure production and business performance. Therefore, apart from fulfilling all employment policies for employees, Phu Thinh regularly coordinates with hospitals to provide regular health check-ups for employees,” he said.
The company’s latex processing facility was set up later than its peers (July 2016) but its outputs are not only sold well in the domestic market, but also exported to other markets in the world like the United States, Taiwan, China, South Korea and India. However, the company has also been caught in many difficulties. Its export rubber wood processing facilities must meet best quality requirements to enter export markets, he said. This requires workmanship of employees and modern technology. The company expects to receive supporting policies from local governments to facilitate the company’s development orientation.
Rubber trees have made the countryside prosperous. Not only paying taxes to the local State budget and raising incomes for workers, the crops have also helped transform bare forest areas into green rubber forests. According to the Binh Phuoc Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the rubber seedling market in Binh Phuoc province also warmed up in the first months of 2017. The rubber acreage in Binh Phuoc province is forecast to be further enlarged until 2020. This is a good signal for the company to introduce more practical policies to reap more successes in all aspects.
