Customs Unearths 11,961 Smuggling Cases in Jan-Oct 2021

The customs sector worked with relevant bodies to detect, arrest and handle 11,961 smuggling cases in the first 10 months of 2021. The smuggled value was estimated at VND2,070.99 billion and VND170.277 billion was collected for the State Budget.

Customs authorities prosecuted 25 cases and transferred 102 cases to other competent bodies for prosecution. Resolved to prevent smuggling, commercial frauds and counterfeits", the General Department of Vietnam Customs has closely followed directions of the Government, the National Steering Committee 389, the Ministry of Finance to fulfill its duties and tasks, from consultation to direct combat. The General Department resolutely fought without tolerance against smuggling and illegal transportation of goods across the border in a timely manner and strictly handled violations under customs laws.

At the same time, to further provide more favorable conditions for businesses, right from the start of 2021, GDC directed and warned local customs authorities to prevent Covid-19 epidemic contagion.
