Indo Minister of Culture & Tourism Tours to Vietnam

Indonesian Minister of Culture and Tourism, Jero Wacik started a two-day official visit to Vietnam on November 24, 2005 aiming to boost the development of relations as well as co-operation in culture and tourism between the two countries.
 
Wacik's visit is to coincide with celebrations in the period leading up to the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Indonesia, to be held on December 30.
 
Minister Wacik met with Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and had talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Dy Nien, and Minister of Culture and Information Pham Quang Nghi.
 
During meetings, both sides also expressed appreciation for the organization of activities to celebrate the anniversary.
 
Officials from both countries came to a consensus on measures to boost cultural relations in the future, including the revision of an agreement on culture signed previously.
 
Wacik also addressed the conference namely “Introduction of Bali” in Hanoi.    
 
Currently, Indonesia is yet to be a significant tourism partner to Vietnam. In the first eleven months this year, only 20034 Indo people toured to Vietnam, up 23.7 per cent on-year. Indonesia is now ranked seven among ASEAN member nations regarding tourist numbers to Vietnam.
