The goal is to make Khanh Hoa a city of Grade 1 by 2015. The province is making every effort to maintain high economic growth rates and build three key economic zones : Van Phong in the North, Cam Ranh in the South and Nha Trang as administrative and financial centre with developed tourism, science and technology.

Nha Trang is a peaceful and attractive coastal city. Nature has endowed Nha Trang with picturesque landscapes, blue sea, beautiful islands and a moderate climate. Over the past century, Nha Trang has been regarded as an ideal place for local and foreign tourists. In 1999, it was recognised by Vietnamese Prime Minister as city of Grade 2. In June 2003, Nha Trang joined the club of the world’s most beautiful gulfs - one of the 29 gulfs with unique natural wonders most attractive to tourists.

Nha Trang has been considered as the locomotive, the driving force for the development of the province. The economic structure is taking shape with service, tourism - industry - agriculture. With bigger investments, the province will make Nha Trang a tourist centre of national and international standards.

The province prioritises the development of high-value products and modern industries : food processing, garment and high-class consumer goods. Commercial centres, banking and service sectors, communication networks, supermarkets, etc. are under construction. Financial centre and securities market will be developed by 2010. Nha Trang will be a beautiful and prosperous city.

Nha Trang will be expanded with two axes of North-South highways. The Western highway will link populated areas, cultural and historical relics and eco-tourism.

The Eastern highway will link all the coastal areas from Dac Loc industrial zone in the North to the Binh Tan, Hon Ro industrial zones in the South, passing through trade, tourism and financial centres and the present Nha Trang airport. The city will have modern architecture and planning.
