The communist country of Vietnam has committed to conducting environmental services, one of 30 major issues, after it becomes an official member of the World Trade Organization (WTO).

The services focus on treating garbage and wastewater, cleaning exhaust fumes, tackling noise issues, and assessing environmental damage.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment reviewed all commitments on environmental services, regulations managing environmental services and standards, and environment-related trade activities.

Also, the ministry adjusted existing regulations and launched new ones in accordance with the country's WTO commitments.

Besides, Vietnam has conducted surveys on the environmental service sector, defining capacities and methods of operation for businesses in the field including private, state-owned and foreign-invested enterprises.

The country needs to complete the legal system and management mechanism for environmental services, map out a strategy to develop the environmental industry, as well as expand environment-related services and goods, environmental experts said, adding that it is necessary to encourage the involvement of the whole society in environmental protection to increase the efficiency of environmental services.
