Soaring Visitor Arrivals in HCM City

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism said international arrivals to Ho Chi Minh City are estimated to reach 1,280,000 in the first six months of 2007, marking 11.3 per cent on-year rise and fulfilling 48 per cent of the year’s target.
 
The top ten markets were the US (up 8 per cent on year), Japan (up 15 per cent), Taiwan (up 8 per cent), South Korea (up 33 per cent), Australia (up 37 per cent), China (up 49 per cent), Singapore (up 36 per cent), France (up 18 per cent), Malaysia (up 30 per cent) and Canada (up 17 per cent).
 
According to the Department of Tourism, all major markets rose considerably, especially China, Australia, Singapore and South Korea. Meanwhile, Russian visitors came to Vietnam mainly in the form of MICE (Meeting - Incentive - Conference - Exhibition).
