Vietnam's 7-Month Retail Sales up 23.1 per cent to US$24.7Bln
Vietnam’s total retail sales of goods and services in the Jan-Jul is estimated to have risen by 23.1 per cent on-year to VND394.5 trillion (US$24.7 billion), reported the government’s General Statistics Office (GSO).
In January-July, the individual sector, the biggest seller, saw revenue growth of 27.2 per cent on-year to VND225.8 trillion, or 57.2 per cent of the total sales.
The private sector registered the highest sales growth of 30.5 per cent to reach VND112 trillion, or 28.4 per cent of total.
The foreign-invested sector posted a sale growth of 25.8 per cent on year to VND10.5 trillion, while the collective sector soared 23.6 per cent to VND3.8 trillion. These two sectors contributed only 2.7 per cent and 1 per cent to the total revenue, respectively.
The state-owned sector’s sale hit VND42.37 trillion in the period, or 10.7 per cent of the total sales, representing a fall of 7.8 per cent against a year earlier.
In the first seven months, the trade sector was the biggest seller with revenue of VND323 trillion (or 81.9 per cent of total), up 22.4 per cent on-year; followed by the hotel and restaurant sector with VND47 trillion (11.9 per cent), up 21.5 per cent; the service sector with VND19.7 trillion (5 per cent), up 35.7 per cent; and the tourism sector with VND4.7 trillion (1.2 per cent), up 44.7 per cent.
