Finance Minister Vu Van Ninh highly appreciated the International Monetary Fund (IMF)’s help to Vietnam in dealing with challenges in managing state budgets and maintaining a stable stock market, state media reported.

The minister made the remark during talks with outgoing senior resident representative of IMF in Vietnam, II Houng Lee and the newly appointed IMF senior resident representative Benedict F.W. Bingham.

To attract more foreign investors, Houng Lee urged, Vietnam needs to focus on unsettled issues from forming international standard budget mechanism, fiscal policy and effectively using foreign loans.

The IMF official also highly valued Vietnam’s economic achievements in recent years and expressed his strong belief that the country will lure more foreign investors in the future.

IMF deputy managing director Takatoshi Kato during his visit to Vietnam in late May also emphasized that the leading financial body will deepen the financial cooperation with Vietnam in the coming time.
