With an aim of speeding up infrastructure development programmes in the socio-economic development plan for the next ten years in Vietnam, which will focus on transport, energy, communication and tourism sectors in the long term, the first international construction exhibition Con-Build Vietnam 2007 will be held in Hanoi from November 20-23.
According to the recent report “Vietnam’s infrastructure system by 2010" of the market survey company Business Monitor International (BMI), the increasing demand for housing and new regulations on urban planning have swelled Vietnam’s construction market with profitable investment opportunities. Based on indexes forecasting Vietnam’s economic development and recent on-paper construction projects, the report affirmed that Vietnam’s market has become more attractive to foreign investors, especially those from Japan, South Korea, Germany and Italy.
Mr Rolf Peter Gottried Schulze, the German Ambassador to Vietnam, said Con-Build Vietnam 2007, organised by Germany’s Munich International Fair Group (MMI), will attract the attendance of many big businesses in Germany seeking investment opportunities in Vietnam. Vietnam is a major partner for Germany. In 2007, trade between Vietnam and Germany is expected to reach US$4 billion. In this environment, the fair has great significance for the economic development of the two countries. Currently, nearly 250 German companies and representative offices have been opened in Vietnam. The German Government will continue strong support for Vietnam’s development, especially construction and infrastructure projects.
Mr Tran Ngoc Hung, Vice Chairman of Vietnam Construction General Association, assessed that the exhibition and conferences will be good chances for Vietnam’s construction industry to boost cooperation with its counterparts, learn new construction technology, and sign contracts to buy construction equipments and materials. The fair will also benefit many other organisations in Vietnam’s construction industry, encouraging them contribute to the development of the industry in Vietnam.
With the attendance of over 200 groups from 19 countries including Germany, Italy, China, S. Korea and Japan, Con-Built Vietnam 2007 will be a venue for the world’s leading groups and companies in the construction industry to meet and display the latest technology and products for manufacturing and processing building materials.
Along with the display of construction machines, equipment and technology transfer, conferences on such issues as the development of the infrastructure system of Vietnam, labour safety and professional disease prevention in the concrete industry will also be held on the sideline of the exhibition, with the participation of the Ministry of Construction, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, and domestic and foreign experts.
MMI has a lot of experience organising exhibitions and fairs, especially in this sector. MMI holds BAUMA Fair, the world’s biggest construction fair, every three years. BAUMA attracts more than 2,800 exhibitors and over 400,000 visitors. In the coming time, MMI will continue organising such fairs in Vietnam, both to create more opportunity for infrastructure development in Vietnam and to help Vietnamese enterprises access export markets, said Mr Manfred Wutzhofer.
