Nearly 31,000 Businesses Join Import-Export Activities 2007

According to the General Department of Customs, Vietnam’s customs sector has seen a prosperous time this year, with the increased in customs procedures registration for imported and exported goods.

From the beginning of this year, the customs sector has received about 2.74 million customs manifests, rising by 215 per cent over the same period last year.

The total import-export value via border gates has reached about US$104.4 billion, an increase of 24.6 per cent on year. Vietnam Customs has done procedures for 325,660 vehicles and about 12.5 million exit and entry passengers, up 19.2 per cent on year.
 
Especially, as many as 30,988 businesses have joined import and export activities this year. In which, the number of businesses which first join export and import activities are up to 7,179 units, a rise of 15.3 per cent over last year. The rate of real verification of imported and exported goods has also decreased from 24 per cent in 2006 to 22 per cent this year. The rate of businesses obeying customs law has risen from 39 per cent in 2006 to 43 per cent in 2007.
