WB Injects US$25 Mln into Southern Vietnam Roads
The World Bank and the Ministry of Transport have recently signed a supplemented credit agreement worth US$25 million to build a road in the southern Ca Mau province, Transport newspaper said on December 17.
The investment will be used to build Gianh Hao bridge 2 and a 58-km road for Binh Duong, Tra Vinh, Hau Giang and Kien Giang, it reported.
The construction is set to be started by the Project Management Unit (PMU) No.1 by April 2008 and completed by April 2011.
WB will not extend the lending schedule if PMU1 fails to start the work as planned, noted Maria Margarita Nunez, director of WB3 project.
Earlier, WB agreed to extend its credit loan worth US$199.6 million to June 30, 2008 for the Nhieu Loc – Thi Nghe sanitation project in Ho Chi Minh City and agreed in principle to extend for the second and final time to December 31, 2008. (Transport, Youth)
