DOC Removes 25 Vietnam Catfish Exporters from Punitive Duties
The U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) has removed 25 Vietnamese tra and basa catfish exporting companies from fourth preliminary review for antidumping duties for the period between August 1, 2006 and July 31, 2007, the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (Vasep) said.
The decision left seven firms part of the administrative review within the period, including An Giang Fisheries Import and Export Joint Stock Co.; Anvifish Co. Ltd.; An Xuyen Co. Ltd.; QVD Food Co. Ltd.; QVD Dong Thap Food Co. Ltd.; Thuan Hung Co. Ltd. (aka THUFICO); and Lian Heng Trading Co. Ltd.
The department extended the deadline for its preliminary findings for the review period, pushing it back from May 2 to Sept. 2. A final determination will be due 120 days after the preliminary findings are published.
In September 2007, the DOC set preliminary anti-dumping tariffs at 63.88 per cent for all lots of Vietnamese catfish shipped to the U.S., Vasep said.
The DOC several days ago said it will temporarily remove antidumping taxes on frozen shrimps exported by 28 Vietnamese companies from February 1, 2006 to January 31, 2007, after the second administrative review. (Vasep)
