PetroVietnam Speeds up Construction of 10 Key Oil Projects

State-owned oil monopoly PetroVietnam has been stepped up the implementation of ten key oil and gas projects since the beginning of this year to ensure the operation schedules to serve the country’s fast-growing economy.

The projects are Ca Mau 2 power plant, Phu My-Nhon Trach gas pipeline, Nhon Trach 1 and Nhon Trach 2 power plants, Block B-O Mon gas pipeline, Dung Quat oil refinery, Nghi Son petrochemical complex, southern oil refinery, southern petrochemical complex and Ca Mau fertilizer project.

In a related development, the Vietnamese government March 10 demanded speedier construction pace of Ca Mau 2 power plant.

Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai requested Vietnam Machinery Installment Corp (Lilama) and contractor Siemens to work out measures to speed up the construction process of the plant, to ensure power generation in the end of March this year.

PetroVietnam was required to timely negotiate with Malaysia partners, particularly contractor Talisman to ensure gas supply for Ca Mau 1 and Ca Mau 2 power plants on schedule.

PetroVietnam has attained record revenues of VND213.4 trillion ($13.4 billion) last year.
