The Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade and the European Union (EU) March 26 co-chaired a seminar highlighting trade self-defense measures within WTO, the state-run Nhan Dan newspaper today [March 27] reported.

The measures aim to protect local producers and exporters from facing unfair trade issues such as anti-dumping and subsidies.

Presentations on WTO regulations and Vietnam's legal framework and procedures on anti-dumping and countervailing measures were also introduced at the seminar which drew attention of around 200 enterprises and relevant agencies in Ho Chi Minh City.

The seminar is part of the Multilateral Trade Assistance Project Vietnam II (MUTRAP II) that aims to raise awareness of Vietnam's WTO rights and obligations.

The project, carried out by the MoIT and the European Commission, concentrates on post-WTO accession issues, and the complex policy changes and challenges facing Vietnam. (VNS, Labor)
