Taiwan Firms Seek Opportunities in Southern Province
A delegation of over 30 Taiwanese transport and hi-tech enterprises came to the southern province of BinhDuong on March 27 to look for business opportunities, Vietnam News Agency reported.
Chief Representative of the mission, Fu-Hsiong Cheng, said Taiwanese investors are keen on Vietnam’s investment environment, particularly in the area of air and waterway transport.
He added that Taiwanese companies were most interested in the My Phuoc Industrial Park, where is home to Taiwan’s 50 electronic projects.
The businesses also worked with the local Investment & Industrial Development Joint Stock Company (Becamex) to discuss cooperation.
During the meeting with the guests, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Hoang Son said, the province will create the most favorable conditions for foreign investors, including those from Taiwan.
According to the official, Taiwan now posts the first position among 37 foreign countries and territories investing in the southern locality in both project number and capital value.
Separately, the San Diego entrepreneur delegation from the U.S. led by Mayor Ron Roberts is paying field trip to the province to search for investment opportunities, state media said March 27.
To date, Binh Duong has licensed 1,700 foreign-owned projects valued at nearly US$10 billion, being one of Vietnam’s most attractive destinations for foreign companies. (VNA)
