HCMC Earns US$7.48 Bln from Exports, up 34.6 per cent in Jan-April

Vietnam's southern economic hub of Ho Chi Minh City was forecast to reap US$7.48 billion from exports in the first four months of this year, up 34.6 per cent on-year, the Vietnam News Agency reported.
 
The figure accounted for 40.96 per cent of the country's total export value.
 
The sharp rise of export turnover was mainly driven by increases in earnings from garment and textile, which raked in US$1.08 billion, up 15 per cent, footwear with US$457 million, up 9.1 per cent and wooden furniture with US$151 million, up 42.3 per cent.
 
Crude oil remained the city’s spearhead export, reaping US$3.48 billion.
 
Seafood product was the only product reporting an on-year value decrease of 7.8 per cent to US$173 million due to petroleum price hike which local producers 15 per cent-20 per cent more than the previous period. (VNA)
