A mission of twenty 20 U.S. companies will arrive in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City this month to seek and expand export opportunities in the Vietnamese market, the Investment newspaper reported June 2.
The mission, headed by U.S. Commerce Assistant Secretary Israel Hernandez, will include firms operating in industries like Capstone Turbine Corp, Covanta Power Int’l, Clover Technologies, Gala Industries, HOK, iDrect, Mary Kay Inc., Scott Machinery, Sem Group, VCU University and Wisconsin Metalworking.
The visit, scheduled from June 16-20, will help U.S. firms develop business and government contacts, solidify business strategies and obtain market access information in the Southeast Asian country, according to a U.S. Department of Commerce.
It is also expected to provide them with more information about policy and commercial issues, including transparency, intellectual property rights protection, trading and distribution rights that U.S. enterprises face in Vietnam.
Early last month, a mission of 23 leading U.S. corporations came to Vietnam look for cooperation opportunities.
The tour, headed by USABC chairman Matthew P. Daley, comprises big names such as General Electric Company, AES, Boeing, Chevron and ConocoPhilips, Monsanto, Hrrah’s, Qualcomm and UPS.
The U.S. now ranks sixth among countries and territories investing in Vietnam with US$5 billion and also the country’s biggest trading partner, the Vietnam News Agency said.
The two-way trade reached US$13 billion last year and is expected to climb to US$15 billion-US$16 billion this year. (Investment)
