Vietnam's Exports to S.Korea Reach US$403.4 Mln in First Quarter
Vietnam was estimated to export US$403.47 million worth of commodities to South Korea in the first quarter of this year, said the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s website.
In March, the country shipped US$198.2 million worth of exports to the foreign country, said the website without giving on-year comparison figure.
Crude oil was the country’s biggest cash earner from South Korea with US$76.13 million, followed by seafood with US$56.9 million, garments and textiles of US$28.36 million, coffee of US$22.45 million, woodwork products of US$20.2 million, and rubber of US$17.94 million.
Currently, South Korea is Vietnam's sixth largest trading partner, with bilateral trade accounting for 6.6 per cent of Vietnam’s total import-export turnover from 2002 to early 2006.
However, Vietnam has incurred a trade deficit with the RoK due to the foreign country’s increased investments in Vietnam and the ASEAN nation’s imports of machinery, spare parts and equipment, cars and materials for garment and textiles manufacturing. (Vinanet)
