Cement Makers Pledge to Stabilize Retail Prices

Cement producers have confirmed that they will not raise retail cement prices on the information on an increase in ex-work cement prices that has worried many people who are in need of construction, the VietNamNet newswire reported.

 

Cement distributors in Ho Chi Minh City said June 10 many cement companies have adjusted cement prices, for example, the ex-work price of Ha Tien 1 cement have increased to VND60,000/bagfrom VND53,500/bag , Cotec cement to VND60,000/bag from VND56,000/bag and Fico cement to VND60,750/bag from VND56,000/bag.

 

The price levels are only applied for distribution network rather than for consumers.

 

Construction material sellers said retail prices of Holcim and Ha Tien cement are standing at VND77,000-VND80,000/bag (including transport fees), even VND82,000-VND83,000/bag in the south. Cement transported from the north is sold for VND65,000-VND66,000/bag.

 

The information that cement makers raise ex-factory prices has worried many people.

However, vice director of the Ha Tien 1 Cement Joint Stock Company, Mai Anh Tai, confirmed his company only increases prices in distribution network, not for consumers. (VietNamNet)
