Taiwan's E-United Plans US$1.6 Bln Urban Area in Northern Vietnam
Taiwan&rsquos E-United Group plans to invest around US$1.6 billion to build a luxury urban area in Hanoi.
 
During the meeting with Chairman of the municipal People&rsquos Committee Nguyen The Thao June 25, General Director Lin Yi Shou asked the city to allocate a land area of 500-1,000 hectares for his group to carry out the project.
 
The urban area will include houses, hotels, modern offices for rent, hospitals, schools, trade centers and entertainment areas, Lin said.
 
Mayor approved in principle the project and said that the most favorable location for the project is in Thanh Tri district, south of the city.
 
E-United now ranks third in the world in stainless steel production with an annual capacity of 3 million tons. It also leads worldwide in gilt industry with a capacity of 700 tons per year.
 
E-United and another Taiwanese partner, Tycoons Worldwide, are building a US$3.2 billion steel mill in Vietnam&rsquos central Quang Ngai province, according to the newspaper. (Urban & Economy)
