Apparel Export Up 17.7% to $4.07 Bln in First Half of 2008

Vietnam reportedly exported $4.077 billion worth of textiles and garments in the first half this year, up 17.7% on-year, the General Statistics Office (GSO) reported.
 
June&rsquos export value is $780 million, compared with $710 in May.
 
This year, the sector is expected to make export turnover of $10 billion while last year&rsquos figure was $7.8 billion.
 
The textile industry is now Vietnam&rsquos second largest forex earner behind crude oil. It is housing 2,000 businesses, including 500 foreign-invested ones. (GSO June 2008)
