Taiwanese Electronics to Build US$10 Mln Plant in Northern Vietnam
Taiwan’s Wanshin Electronics Ltd. Co. has got a license to build US$10 million plant in the Dai An industrial zone in northern Hai Duong province of Vietnam.
The facility will specialize in manufacturing and assembling cables and other parts for laptops and cell phones. The wholly foreign-invested project is expected to be put into operation by late 2009.
The Dai An IZ has so far this year attracted five new foreign direct investment (FDI) projects capitalized at US$130 million, bringing the total number of FDI projects in the IZ to 32 totaling US$432 million.
Built in 2003 about 5 km to the west of Hai Duong city at a cost of VND274 billion (US$16.7 million), the 170-hectare Dai An IZ is home to 15 operational plants while nine others are under construction. These projects have created 6,800 jobs so far. (VNA)
