S.Korean M&A Survey Mission Explores Opportunities in Vietnam
The Korea Trade Investment Promotion Agency (Kotra) has sent a delegation for merger and acquisition (M&A) activity survey to Vietnam Aug 26-29, aiming to look for investment opportunities and further expand in the market, state media reported on August 27.
The mission, being led by Kotra director Jo Hwan Ik, including 13 South Korean enterprises operating in the areas of medicine production, real estate and transport wants to seek M & A opportunities in the fast-growing economy of Vietnam, Vietnam News Agency said.
During the stay in Vietnam, they plans to work with the State Capital Investment Corporation (SCIC) and the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Competition Administration Department to discuss South Korean firms’ participation in privatization process of Vietnamese companies in the coming time.
Meanwhile, another mission of the Korea Environment and Resources Corporation (ENVICO) under the South Korean Natural Resources and Environment Ministry visited central Quang Ngai province Aug 26 to seek investment opportunities, the agency added.
ENVICO General Director Ko Jea Young said that the mission explored the current waste treatment and industrial development in Quang Ngai, particularly in the Dung Quat Economic Zone, which is home to many industrial projects.
Meanwhile, the Vietnamese Ministry of Planning and Investment said that currently South Korea is ranked first among 81 countries and territories investing in Vietnam with 2,022 projects totaling US$15.1 billion. (VNA)
