Ms Noorizah Hj.Abd Hamid, CEO of Plus Expressways Berhad, a member of the United Engineers Malaysia Berhad (UEM) has said Plus Expressways Berhad has interested in investing to build the north-south expressway route, the Dau Tu (Investment) newspaper said.

“Biggest challenge for us is little chances to take part in those road projects the government of Vietnam is prioritizing, the local government should create more chances for foreign investors to get involved,” Noorizah Hj.Abd Hamid said.

“Plus Expressways Berhad has 20 years of experience in the infrastructure field, and currently we [Plus Expressways Berhad] is seeking to invest into Vietnam’s roads projects,” she said.

Vietnam needs some VND118 trillion (US$7.4 billion) each year to develop transport infrastructure, said Tong Quoc Dat, deputy director of the Department for Infrastructure and Urban Development under the Ministry of Planning and Investment.

However, the annual amount of capital invested in this area is now estimated at between US$2 billion-US$3 billion, most of which is mobilized from the state budget and government bonds, Dat said. (Investment)
