Vietnam is expected to receive US$2.2 billion of official development assistances this year, the Dau Tu newspaper said, citing a senior official of the Ministry of Planning and Investment as saying on November 24.

Hoang Viet Khang, vice head of MPI’s Foreign Investment Department said the sum will include US$1.95 billion of ODA loans and US$250 million of grants.

Khang noted that MPI has recent had meetings with donors for Vietnam and forecast that next year ODA will be not less than this year’s figure. The essential issue is how to boost disbursements.

Vietnam is expected to sign ODA agreements for a number of projects next year including US$150 million hydropower plant with the World Bank, US$400 million Ca Mau 2 power project and US$300 million road construction project with the Asian Development Bank.
