Vietnam’s central region is expected to receive about 100,000 visitors from Thailand and Laos this year, state media has said.

This target is feasible thanks to a direct air route Danang city to Bangkok and a land route along the East-West economic corridor.

Tourism businesses in the region and Thai travel agencies gathered at a seminar in Danang recently to discuss measures to effectively attract tourists.

They agreed to boost exchanges of information and cooperation among cities and provinces in central Vietnam and Thai and Lao localities.

Vietnamese provinces plan to work with travel agencies in Thailand and Laos to promote their local tourism destinations.

Vietnam welcomed more than 170,500 tourist arrivals from Laos and Thailand in the first nine months of this year, up 15.6 per cent on-year. (VietNamNet)
