The Vietnamese prime minister has agreed to cut import duty on material fiber to 0 per cent from the current 3 per cent, the Dau Tu newspaper reported.

The reduction is followed by a proposal by the Vietnam Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex).

Vietnam now has to import up to 90 per cent of material fiber.

The removal of fiber import duty will help raise competitiveness of Vietnamese textile and garment enterprises, Vinatex said. (Investment)
