Steering Committee on Special EZ in Central Vietnam Set up

Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has decided to establish a state steering committee (SSC) to oversee a project to form a special economic zone in central Phu Yen province by the Sama Dubai Group from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the state-run Labor newspaper reported.
 
The committee is tasked to instruct and supervise the relevant ministries and authorities in implementing the project, and also make proposals to the Government, Politburo and National Assembly regarding specific aspects of the project and make recommendations regarding the project’s policies.
 
Under the decision, First Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung will act as Head of the SSC, while National Assembly Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu, Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai and Minister of Planning and Investment Vo Hong Phuc are to be named as deputy heads of the committee.
 
The committee will also consist of 18 additional members, most of whom are deputy ministers, as well as the vice chairman of the Phu Yen provincial People’s Committee. (Labor, VNA)
