12 Foreign Firms Study Vietnam Tourism Potentials

As many as 12 foreign travel firms arrived in Vietnam on February 12 to survey the nation’s tourism potentials and seek partners.
 
During the one-day stay in Vietnam, the travel firm who come from France, Greek, Austria and Germany will join tours organized by Vietravel to study the tourism spots, lodgments and tourism services.  
 
Vietnam has five natural and cultural world heritage sites recognized by UNESCO, including the complex of Hue monuments, Hoi An ancient town, the My Son sanctuary, Ha Long bay, and the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park. It also boasts other world intangible heritages, namely the Tay Nguyen gong culture in addition to Hue royal music.
 
Vietnam witnessed decrease of 11.9 per cent in the number of foreign arrivals in January, 2009.
 
The communist country has set target of welcoming five million foreign and 21.5 million local tourists this year despite negative impacts of the global economic slowdown.
 
The tourism sector now contributes 8 per cent to Vietnam’s national GDP. (People’s Police)
