Vietnam Central Province Seeks Investors for 70 Projects

The central province of Quang Ngai is calling on investors for 70 projects, including many big ones, from now to 2010, according to a newly-issued decision by the provincial People’s Committee.
 
Among those, Dung Quat Economic Zone accounts for 40 projects, comprising a 60,000-ton MethylTeriaryButyl Ether plant, a 40,000-ton synthetic rubber plant, a 30,000-ton Polystyren plastic factory and a 1,200-MW coal-fueled project. Others are projects to produce lubricant, coal and build trade center and tourism resort.
 
The remaining 30 projects will be located in local industrial parks and outside Dung Quat Economic Zone, producing foodstuff, animal food, standard and non-standard building components, residential areas and billet aluminum.
 
Quang Ngai, one of provinces in the key economic areas of central Vietnam, is home to abundant mineral resources like graphite with four million tons in reserve (2.5 million tons exploitable) average carbonic volume of 20 per cent; 1 million tons of silimanite ore; 476000 m3 of coal slime; 4 millions tons of kaolin among others.
 
Most of Quang Ngai soil is favorable for long-term industrial plants especially fruit trees and medical tree. Downstream watershed fat lands are favorable for planting rice short- term industrial plants and vegetables.
 
The province also boasts historical relics with old-age historical heritages namely Sahuynh relics and ancient Cham cultural sites well-known historical memorials. (Vietnam Economic Times, Quang Ngai’s Website).
