U.S. Group Plans First Resort Construction in Vietnam

The U.S.-based Marriott International February 16 announced that it will build the first resort under its brand JW Marriott in Vietnam as part of its business expansion in the country, the Vietnam News Agency has said. 
 
The resort is part of the group’s plan to build 57 new hotels and resorts in Asia in the next four years. 
 
Of the figure, 21 hotels will be built in China, 24 hotels in India and eight others in Thailand, an official from the group said, adding that the new opening is expected to create job for 15,000 people in the region.
 
Marriott International currently manages two hotels in HCM City, the 336 – room Renaissance Riverside Sai Gon and the 538 – room New World Hotel Sai Gon.
 
The group holds stakes in nine hotels in Vietnam, including Movenpick Sai Gon hotel, Hilton Hanoi Opera and Sofitel Metropole hotel in Hanoi, and Sheraton Nha Trang hotel, the latter to open in March.
 
Marriott International which owns brands including JW Marriott, Ritz-Carlton and Renaissance, now operates 109 hotels in 13 nations in Asia. (VNA)
