The People’s Committee of central Danang city has issued policies to support projects to develop boat tourism on Han River and several other local rivers.

Under the policies, the project will be registered and implemented before December 31, 2011, will exempt the boats from fees of bridge and wharf use along the Han River in the first five years of operation and will reduce fees by half for the two following years.

The project investors will get provincial assistance to buy insurance for the boats and their laborers in the first two years of operation.

They will also get support to buy lifebuoys and to train captains and staff members.

These policies will also be applied for fishing ships with a capacity below 30CV, which provide tourism services on the rivers.

The central city has so far this year attracted 97,538 international visitors, down 16 per cent on-year due to the effects of the global economic slump.

In the same period, the locality has welcomed 285,676 local arrivals, up 7 per cent compared to the same time last year. (Youth)
