Vietnam Five-star Hotels to Give 50% Discount to Local Guests
Six of 12 five-star hotels in HCM City will offer a hefty discount of around 50% for local guests from September 1 to October 31.
The information was announced at a meeting between the City Tourism Department recently.
Under the promotion called “One Day at Five-star Hotels”, the Rex and the Majestic will offer Vietnamese customers a rate of $80 per room per night, the Sheratonus$160 per night, the Renaissance Riverside $l09 per night, the Caravelle $120 per night and the Windsor $75 per night.
Other hotels are offering other suitable conditions for Vietnamese people to stay.
La Quoc Khanh, deputy director of HCM City's Department of Culture, Sports and
Tourism said the department would call on other hotels to join the program to attract more people to HCM City and to help luxury hotels increase occupancy.
The average occupancy of three-to five-star hotels in HCM City during the first seven months of 2009 was 53%, down 18% on-year.
“The market is not promising to recover soon so we need to launch attractive programs for local guests,” Khanh said, revealing that department and tour operators have made marketing trips to Tien Giang, Ha Long and Hanoi to invite travelers to HCM City.
The number of international tourists to HCM City now accounts for 55% of Vietnam’s total number. (STD)
