Businesspeople Donate Nearly VND2 Bln to Build Thanh Giong Statue
On the occasion that the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) held a meeting with nominated outstanding entrepreneurs at the Soc Son Temple - Non Nuoc Temple, Soc Son District, Hanoi City on October 9, 2009, VCCI President Vu Tien Loc, on the behalf of outstanding entrepreneurs, donated nearly VND2 billion to the Vietnam Buddhist Shangha to invest in building Thanh Giong (Saint Giong) statue.
Thanh Giong statue is one of major projects to celebrate the millennial founding anniversary of Thang Long - Hanoi in 2010. The bronze statue weighing 85 tonnes will be placed on Da Chong Mount, the highest peak in Soc Son Temple - Non Nuoc Pagoda historic site. The project requires a total investment of some VND50 billion which is sourced from individuals, organisations and businesses in Vietnam and from other nations.
As scheduled, at 09:09 a.m. on the ninth day of Lunar September, the statue will be cast at the Vietnam Buddhism Institute, Soc Son District, Hanoi.
