Vietnamese Coffee Prices Fall Sharply

Coffee prices in Vietnam dropped sharply over the past days following consecutive falls on the world market.
 
Prices of coffee at the domestic market dropped to VND24,600/kg on Nov 5 from VND25,000/kg in Nov 3. On the world market, coffee was traded at US$1,447/ton on Nov 5, down by US$25/ton from Nov 4.
 
Meanwhile, farmers in central highlands, the largest coffee growing area in Vietnam, has not yet dared to continue harvesting due to bad weather caused by tropical storm Mirinae.
 
The Dak Lak province’s Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control estimated that the storm has damaged 79,000 hectares of coffee. (VOV)
