EU Rejects Extension of Duties on Vietnam's Shoes
The European Union's anti-dumping committee rejected European Commission (EC)’s proposal to extend anti-dumping duties on shoes originated from Vietnam and China Nov 19.
Fifteen European nations voted “No” to the proposal while ten other countries voted ay and the two abstainers, the Vietnam News Agency said Nov 20, citing a source from the EU.
The EC plans to continue seeking for the vote of EU ministers in Dec, the source said.
The EC started imposing anti-dumping duties of 16.5% and 10% on shoes made in China and Vietnam, respectively, Oct 2006 despite the opposition of major retailers, global brands and consumers. (VietnamPlus)
