Vietnamese companies have to date invested US$3.6 billion in Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS), accounting for over half of the country’s overseas investments.

Of the sum, US$1 billion was poured into Laos and US$500 million was injected into Cambodia.

The newspaper also reported that the Vietnamese Ministry of Planning and Investment will join hands with the Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia Economic Development Association to hold a GMS investment promotion conference in Ho Chi Minh City on December 9.

The there-day conference is part of the “Development Cooperation Forum – International Trade and Fair Investment Mekong 2009,” which opened in the city on Nov 30.

This will be a chance for firms to seek investment opportunities in the GMS region including Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, and China’s Yunnan province. (Investment)
