Vietnam Jan-Oct Imports from Russia Rocket 36.9% to $1.17B

Vietnam imported $1.17 billion worth of goods from Russia in the first ten months of this year, jumping 36.9% from a year earlier.
 
The country spent up to $656.46 million on buying 1.49 million tons of iron and steel from Russia, jumping 62% on-year, the Ministry of Industry and Trade said.
 
Vietnam’s other key imports were petroleum products with $272.81 million, up 344% on-year, fertilizers with $90.12 million, down 41% and machines and equipment with $19.08 million, down 81%.
 
Trade between Vietnam and Russia stood at $1.59 billion in the first ten months of this year and is forecast to hit $2 billion in 2009, up 21.88% on-year. (vinanet)
