Vietnam’s pangasius fish export to Russia rose sharply between November and the first half of December, doubling last year’s figure, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).

The association said that Vietnam has so far this year earned more than US$70 million from pangasius fish export to this market.

To increase the export revenue of pangasius fish to the market, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has asked seafood processing companies to meet the strict food and hygiene safety standards.

The ministry said that it will give priority to seafood processing businesses which have already signed contracts with Russian importers and have met the standards set by Russia’s Federal Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance Service (VPSS).

Vietnam expected to earn a total of US$1.3 billion from pangasius export this year. (Vietnam Economic Times)
