Vietnam ran a huge trade deficit of US$11.3 billion with China last year, up 1.8% from a year earlier, the General Statistics Office released on January 8.

The country exported US$4.8 billion worth of goods to its neighbor and imported US$16.1 billion, up 4.9% and 2.7% on-year, respectively.

Vietnam’s rising trade deficit in recent years was blamed for its widening trade gap with China.
