Domestic, Foreign Investors Flock to Build Resorts in Central Highlands
Foreign and domestic developers are rushing to build tourism resorts in Vietnam’s Central Highland province of Lam Dong, especially in Da Lat City.
Lam Dong attracted 240 tourism projects worth VND63 trillion ($3.4 billion) in the 2003-2006 period, and of which 149 projects valued at VND25 trillion ($1.35 billion) have been developed, according to the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism's Tourism Management Division.
Da Lat City's Tuyen Lam Lake Tourist Zone is home to 32 tourism projects worth VND7 trillion ($378 million) which cover a total area of 1,435 hectares, said the department.
Lam Dong has called for investment in 24 projects worth $1.87 billion, 14 of which in the trade and tourism industry. It would focus on promoting eco-tourism and holding meeting-incentive-convention-event (MICE) tours.
Currently, the province has 673 tourist lodgments with 11,000 rooms, including 85 ranked hotels and 22 companies operating in the tourism industry. (VNA)
