U.S. Takes Lead in Importing Vietnam Pepper
The U.S. became the biggest importer of Vietnamese pepper with revenues of US$3.8 million in the first month of this year, accounting for 16.1% of Vietnam’s total pepper export revenues, the Information Center of Agriculture and Rural Development (Agroinfo) reported.
The center said that the figure showed a slight increase of 9.46% from late last year and a sharp increase of 62% compared to a year earlier.
Germany ranked the second with revenues of US$3.51 million, accounting for 15% and making on year rise of 170%.
Followings were India and the Netherlands with revenues of US$1 million each.
The Vietnam Pepper Association expects to harvest a bumper crop this year with growing prices on high demand.
Vietnam exported 7,521 tons of pepper worth US$23.45 million in Jan 2010, up 60.46% compared to previous year. (Agroinfo)
