Companies from ASEAN countries have to date invested over US$60 billion in Vietnam.

Malaysia has taken the lead among ASEAN investors in Vietnam with 351 projects totaling US$17.98 billion, followed by Singapore with 808 projects valued at US$17.73 billion.

The runners-up are Thailand with 228 projects capitalized at US$5.67 billion, Brunei with 105 projects worth US$4.72 billion and Indonesia with 45 projects costing US$200.99 million, the Ministry of Planning and Investment’s figures showed.

Vietnam expects to attract more foreign investments once the ASEAN Comprehensive Investment Agreement takes effect on August this year.

More capitals will be flown into Vietnam as the deal will facilitate non-ASEAN investors to do business in the country, said an official from the Ministry of Industry and Trade. (vietnamplus.vn, VIR)
