Six mechanical companies from Emilia Romagna region in northern Italy will make a trip to Vietnam on June 7-11 to look for investment opportunities in the country.

During the stay, the guests will meet with firms in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi to discuss cooperation in developing modern technology solutions, Marco Saladini, the Italian Trade Commissioner in Vietnam said at press conference on June 1.

The Italian firms engage on automobile and motorbike parts production, food processing lines, and agricultural machinery, with Ducati Motor, Sai Spa and Galtech opening representative offices in Vietnam.

Emilia Romagna is an industrially developed region in Italy and mechanical engineering is its spearhead industry.

Italian companies plan to shift investments to Vietnam and Malaysia from Thailand due to the Thai political instability, Vincenzo Cale, leader of Italian Trade Commission recently told the state-run Vietnam News Agency.

Italian investments into Vietnam are expected to rise 10% from the current US$200 million this year. As of April 20, Italian companies invested US$188.5 million into 37 projects in Vietnam, ranking the 31st among investors making direct investment in the country. (www.vonews.vn, www.vietnamplus.vn)
