Vietnam, Venezuela to Boost Oil, Gas, Power Cooperation
Visiting Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has met with Venezuelan Vice President cum Minister Energy and Petroleum Rafael Ramirez Carrexo and Electricity Minister Ali Rodriguez to discuss ways to boost bilateral ties in oil, gas and power in the next years.
During the meeting with Rafael on June 29, Hai vowed to consider Venezuela’s plan to join Dung Quat oil refinery expansion project in Vietnam and invited the host to visit the Southeast Asian country on the occasion of the 2nd meeting of the Vietnam-Venezuela Inter-governmental Committee to be held in Hanoi in the third quarter of this year.
Rafael said the Venezuelan government will continue to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese firms to join oil and gas projects in the Latin American nation and pledged to visit Vietnam.
On the same day, Hai had talk with Ali during which the guest said Vietnam and Venezuela boast great potential and opportunities for cooperation in the electricity industry in the next years.
Hai called for enterprises of the two nations to set up cooperation in engineering, electrical equipment for domestic consumption and exports, such as transformers with capacity of up to 500kVA.
Ali said Venezuela is targeting some industries of great cooperation potential with Vietnam in the next years, including production and manufacture of electrical equipment and machines.
During his six-day visit to Venezuela starting on June 28, Hai is expected to witness the signing of important oil and gas contracts between the two countries, including a deal to set up PetroMacareo oil and gas joint venture clinched in Caracas on June 29 for oil and gas production at Block Junin 2 in Venezuela’s Monagas State.
