Vietnam welcomed 437,214 Chinese visitors in the first half of 2010, soar 92.5% from a year earlier, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) said.

In June, 71,719 Chinese travelers visited the country, up 34.3% on month and 88.9% on year, it added. The sharp increase was attributed to the recovery of the national and world economy and efficiency of promotion campaigns.

Last year, the Southeast Asia country received 528,000 Chinese holiday makers, still lower than the record of 778,000 in 2004.

Vietnam aims to welcome over one million Chinese tourist arrivals in 2010, doubling last year’s figure. (Vietnamtourism)
