HCM City Seeks US$73.43B for Infrastructure, Urban Projs Next 5 Yrs

Ho Chi Minh City is seeking VND1,400 trillion (US$73.43 billion) for infrastructure and urban development projects in the next five years, Nguyen Thanh Tai, vice-chairman of the municipal People’s Committee said.
 
Tai made the statement at the launching ceremony of City Gate Towers invested by Nam Bay Bay Investment JSC with a total investment of VND1.5 trillion in District 8.
 
The vice chairman emphasized that with a population of 10 million people including 2.5 million immigrants, Ho Chi Minh City has a huge demand for housing projects, thus investments for these projects are very necessary.
 
The city is also calling investments for many infrastructure projects including US$350-million tramcar route No. 2, a US$200-million tramcar route No.3 and a VND19.5 trillion expressway during the period.
 
HCM City disbursed VND11.88 trillion for infrastructure projects in the first three months this year, up 15.1% from a year earlier. The city expects to invest VND33.67 trillion in development projects this year. (Young People)
