Vietnam Northern Province to Host Int’l Tea Festival in 2011
Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung has approved the northern province of Thai Nguyen to host the international tea festival in Mar 2011, the government said on its website.
The event is expected to attract the participation of around 50-60 countries and territories worldwide, and 20 cities and provinces in Vietnam, Pham Xuan Duong, chairman of the municipal People’s Committee was cited as saying.
The festival will promote Vietnamese tea in the world market, the chairman expected.
Vietnam is now the world fifth biggest tea producers with more than 135,000 hectares under cultivation.
The country exported its tea products to 110 countries and territories worldwide, with the “CheViet” brand was registered in 70 markets including the U.S., EU, and Russia.
The country expects to earn US$167 million from exporting 117,000 tons of tea this year. (chinhphu.vn)
