U.S. Remains Biggest Importer of Vietnam Cashew Nuts in H1

The U.S. continued to take the lead among 24 major importers of Vietnamese cashew nuts with revenues of US$139 million in the first half of 2010, up 40.4% on-year, the Ministry of Industry and Trade said on its website Aug 3.
 
The Netherlands ranked second with US$66 million, up 27.4% on-year, the ministry added.
 
The export to China, the third largest buyer, however, dropped 13.6% from a year earlier to US$60 million.
 
Followings were Australia, Britain and Canada which imported US$30.6 million; US$16.9 million; and US$13.7 million worth of cashew nuts from Vietnam.
 
In the Jan-Jun period, Vietnam saw highest growths in exports to Russia, Thailand and Canada at 142%; 136% and 119% on-year, respectively.
 
Vietnam earned US$425.4 million from shipping abroad 80,206 tons of cashew nuts in H1, up 26.3% and 6.4% on-year, respectively. (Vinanet)
